Neuroscience outpatient physiotherapy service
The neuroscience outpatient physiotherapy service at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) is dedicated to providing high quality care for people with neurological illness.
What do we offer?

- Therapeutic massage
- Group core stability exercise classes

How can I get referred?
We accept referrals from your GP or Consultant.
Frequently asked questions
What do I wear?
It’s advisable to wear/bring loose clothing such as a t-shirt and tracksuit trousers/shorts to allow you freedom to move easily during the assessment.
Who will I see?
You will see a senior physiotherapist for your first appointment, which will consist of a detailed assessment; followed by time to discuss treatment options with you.
What will happen at my appointment?
Assessment sessions usually take between 45 and 60 minutes. You will be asked relevant questions about your condition and how it’s affecting your daily life. We will assess your physical capabilities, observing how you move and looking for specific areas of muscle weakness. It is also useful if you are able to bring details of any other medical conditions and any current medication you are taking.
How much physiotherapy can I expect to receive?
We offer a treatment programme which will help meet your goals. This programme will continue while you are able to benefit from physiotherapy. This will be regularly reviewed.
